| Paths To Spirit |
| Choosing a creative spirituality offers the seeker all the traditions of the past for artist’s colors, but the canvas we paint is a new one of our making. Richard Potter (Authentic Spirituality, Llewelyn) has written of the need for departure from culture specific beliefs and practices. Indeed, globalization of our physical existence, combined with our growing awareness of our spiritual oneness, compel us to move beyond old constraints, with opened eyes.
At Osireion we cherish beauty and the richness of human experience — the psalter and censors, prayer beads and drum circles, Beltane fires and baptisms, the cantors, lamas, dervishes, all. Treasures from the past have been rescued and successfully employed, for example, by the pagan movement to develop magical practices which are, after all, a practical application of expanded consciousness. No spiritual path lacks lessons and tools for us, be it the ancient and classical pantheon, mystical Christianity, Sufi devotion, the Ife or the Buddha. In this age in which we are releasing the limits which our religious (or non-religious) upbringing placed upon us, we can find joy in the places visited by pilgrims throughout time. Using that complex beauty we will weave our own new tapestry. As we recognize the creative nature of our being, we can allow it to fractal outward, birthing a path of devotion and exploration as beautifully unique as our own soul. Osireion gives special attention to a few areas that we know well, but we hope you will also look beyond these paths for the things that bring you joy, or give you pause. Because when we create, we begin to understand All-That-Is. |
